Review of MDI M1, A Surprising Mini PC Projector

Posted by

After comparing the price & features, online reviews, deals & buying guide, I finally chose the MDI M1 Mini PC Projector. Fortunately, it has come with a good surprise. So, today, I’d like to write a review for such a compact projector.

I just spent $349 in getting this projector from Banggood, a Chinese cross-border online store. For the price, this is pretty much unbeatable for a pocket portable projector in particular considering that it also has a full Android system inside with wireless facilities.

When I received and opened the package, I have to say that it just an amazing stylish product and well packed in luxury box like a huge luxury brand product. With stylish design and very pleasant touch, this product is not noisy at all, just gave a big surprise. The image is very good and sharp up to 40″ even in the day light. Above 60″, the image deteriorated a bit but still good but only in the dark. As well as, the WiFi connectivity is good. It can be kept on bed side table. I use it to play most video directly from USB. What’s more, the battery life is quite good. Even I can use it as a power bank.

Surely there must be a catch. Location is configured as china and this cannot be changed from within the settings. This unfortunately means that you are not able to login to the play store using your Google account. Some applications installed that may affect the systems stability perhaps (Just do not try to use this Android system within the projector for any financial transactions).

However, I would still recommend this device. It works perfectly well as a projector (Allowing you to connect via HDMI lead) or to use it completely as a standalone Android system with projector. But if you want a lighter and cheaper projector, I would recommend the MDI M3. It costs only $199 now. It’s even brighter than MDI M1, outputs 1000 lumens brightness. And there is a form of the specifications of MDI M3 and MDI M1, you can have a comparing.
